I am a Historian

DSC_9591I Had another Family session today. Brought me mentally back to the last family session i had ~ Matt, the father, said that he was not going to look at my sneak peek of their shoot (which he did out of excitement, teehee) because he wanted it to be a thrill at once…”because its important, because this is history” And it hit me…i am recording HUMANS… not pretty pictures. He put to words what i truly LOVE about my job, finding ways to capture not just the physical beauty of a person and their surroundings but to capture THEM ~ the essence of them. what makes them tick, what makes them smile…why they LIVE. And on top of that, one thing i feel is even greater than that, capturing thier connections to the people around them. Its not just that she’s his kid, or he is her man…its that she cannot sleep without hearing his breathing, and he feels secure and safe because mommy holds his hand… Its these connections in life that make me tick, make me smile and make me LIVE. and i am SAVING it in a beautiful image that will bring it back for them years from now in such a strong and REAL form that they will laugh out loud, cry, sigh, or just be comforted inside.

I really love my job. i love how i can HELP people with my camera and that it supports my life as well. How blessed am i! God surely loves us, and i feel it greatly so tonight.
