Flashes of Hope

I was officially selected to be the chairman for the Idaho Flashes of Hope today!!! It is a non-profit organization that provides free photographs for children battling cancer. their mission is as such:

The portraits, taken by award-winning photographers, help children feel better about their changing appearance by celebrating it. For families of terminally ill children, it’s especially important to have a portrait that preserves forever the beauty, grace and dignity of their child.

Our goal is to photograph every child until every child is cured.

here is what the children and families say about it…

“I cannot thank you enough for these beautiful photos and the experience was truly wonderful. As luck would have it, he was photographed on his birthday! We were just diagnosed – very depressed – and, to top it off, David had to spend his birthday in the hospital starting chemotherapy on the same day. We were told about this program and that maybe we could be squeezed in that day. We are so happy it worked in our favor. It certainly picked up everyones spirits – everyone was so kind and friendly, it made us forget where we were and what were going through and what was ahead for us. Looking at my son and my daughters in these photos remind me of just how beautiful they are- inside and out! Thank you again so much for this wonderful gift and the memories.”
Francine and David Shurin, Cleveland

“I feel like I was given the opportunity to walk with angels that day and was taught something new about myself through each connection. I hope to have opportunities to contribute to the world through my gift of photograph for as long as I can look through a lens.”
Karen Carey

“Thank you so much! These photos mean the world to me. They make me cry- but they also make me smile, if that makes any sense!”
