life and everything inbetween

Army, think strong but don’t hold your breath… When we first looked into the army it sounded like a dream, too good to be true!

*school loan repayment up to 30k

*10k signing bonus

*LPN training free…so after the training we would walk into the nursing program

*a school bonus paid monthly (kicker i believe they called it) while he was in school

* 4500 school tuition each year Gi bill

but when we neared the signing time everything had dissipated except the GI bill and the position in the Army but even that was sketchy! they wanted him to go and sign up and then hope that his job was there and that they could ‘force the army’s hand’ to give him the job. sound fishy? We declined and Jon said that the recruiter  who had been helping us’s boss sat jon down and said “who cared that all the money and incentive is gone…you still could get the job!” wowsa…jon said it wasn’t just the job…it was getting out of debt and bettering my education. so we walked away. He told them that if they can find a way to honor the agreement and promises that they spoke to us about then to call and we would be signed up that day.

So back to square one! how to afford his final yr of med school? Well, God knew this before us (as usual) and blessed us with a busy Lindy Photography season and now we can afford it this year!!! when i took on more work than i wanted to (not too much) i thought “i guess i can buy that new lens that i want” but now i get to buy my hubby some education!!! He will be a working paramedic by the year 2012. he will be taking the slower course over the next year and we will be staying here … TOGETHER!!! when the army started backing out on our original agreement i said to jon…”this gives us more debt! Not money but time! In a year and a half HERE you could be in the same place if not better and NOT be committed to the country for the next 6.5 years!” and he agreed, then we played halo! :)

I am grateful for my career and i am grateful for my life. Thanks to all my brides and clients!

So onto another note ~ i received my Flashes of hope box last night! i geeked out!!!!!! i was sobbing as i learned that the non profit organization was founded by a lady who has a son with pediatric cancer and one of his cancer friends from the hospital had passed away and they didn’t have a photo of him! so she started this up! and today there is an ARMY of helpers spreading it across the nation!!! they say “Photographing each child with cancer until cancer is cured!” i just love that! i am getting soooo eager for my Gala and all the shoots this summer! i have three and am rushingly setting it all together as fast as i can! it is going to be fantastic!!!!!!!
