I read a book last year called "Wild At Heart" by John Eldridge where he discusses how men are "initiated" into Manhood. A Mother CANNOT do it. It must be done by a Man who himself has been initiated. In the end he talks about how there is a cycle of "uninitiated" men from generation after generation and that in the end, GOD can initiate you. For HE is the perfect example of what a Man is. Also, Jesus Christ. Its a pretty incredible book with a TON for a mother to think about. When I found out I was having Henry, I was thrilled for Chris to be able to have the opportunity to be a Father and Man for his own son. I have to cut those apron strings at about age 10 and let Chris take the reigns. I'm so excited to do that! And am I am saddened at the state of most of the M boys, and so many others I know too- Glen died RIGHT at the point in all their lives, especially Jon's, where they were ready for Glen to step it up and take over- to teach them. I believe it still can happen- and I have seen my own husband grow leaps and bounds through his own self discovery through the years. I think we'll be solid by the time my son is ready to take flight! AND- that same author has another book called "Captivating" that examines the WOMAN'S soul.
